What is a dipper in a candle set?
A wick dipper is an elegant metal tool about 8 inches long with a bend in one end. For larger diameter candles, use the curved end to push the wick in to the wax pool and re-straighten it.
What to use if you don’t have a wick dipper?
If you don’t have a wick dipper on hand, you could also use another long, slender implement, such as a chopstick or paperclip, to force the wick down.
Are candle snuffers worth it?
The main benefit of using a snuffer over a wick dipper is that it prevents debris from falling into the wax pool, especially when you’ve been burning it for a while and the wick has started to mushroom. If this happens, extinguish the candle with a snuffer and then trim the wick.
