How do I stop my vent pipe from smelling?
How do I know if my air admittance valve is working?
- Listen for a hissing sound coming from the valve – this means it’s working.
- Check to see if there is any water leaking from the valve – if so, it’s not working.
- Try to open and close the valve – if it is working, then you should be able to do this easily.
Why does my plumbing vent smell?
Causes of Plumbing Vent Odors:
You get odors in plumbing from what’s inside the pipes, so if you have a clog, the sludge inside the pipe can be causing the foul odor. It doesn’t have to be human waste, it can come from hair, soap, skin cells, body washes and other stuff that makes its way into the drain.
